What interested you in ECS?
I enjoyed the idea of working closely with the head engineer to kick-start a new office. It meant I had the opportunity to experience a variety tasks, from lab testing, field work, reporting and everything in-between.
What is the coolest thing you have done so far?
I was able to help design a helix pile for a project that had foundation issues. It was cool because my work brought a solution to a real problem. I’m not just an intern at the office who they need to find work for. Working alongside my supervisor was also a positive because we get along very well. I look forward to working at ECS every day.

Name: Sandip Gupta
School: University of Mississippi
Degree studying: Civil Engineering
Where are you from? Oxford, MS (Originally from Nepal)
What made you interested in field/degree?
Working out in the field and facing new challenges everyday amuses me. I have always been curious about construction of structures and how it is completed from scratch. Volunteering in construction of small houses for homeless people, back in Nepal when it was hit by major earthquake, has driven me to pursue my career in construction.
What do you hope to do in the future and how is ECS helping to make that happen?
In the long run I want to see myself supervising construction projects. Leading a project is not easy and requires a number of steps. ECS is guiding me by giving me an opportunity to visit different sites. These sites help me understand real world engineering hurdles and the approach to tackle them.
Name: Prathamesh Sanjay Pawar
School: The University of Texas at Arlington
Degree studying: Master’s in Construction Management
Where are you from? India (Currently residing in Arlington, TX)
What made you interested in Construction Management?
I have always been fascinated with learning about the construction of huge, vertical structures and the methodology and materials used to withstand the tons of load. Pursuing construction management will not only help me learn at the ground level on the construction sites, but will help me solve all my queries and learn under the brightest minds in the field.
What do you hope to do in the future and how is ECS helping to make that happen?
I am eager to learn many new methodologies to plan a structure, execute it and maintain the quality of building material by various on-site material testing. I hope to continue along the same path in the future, which will make me a proud and technically strong field person.
ECS’ internship program offers opportunities for hands-on experiences to build skills outside the classroom, as well as life-long connections along the way.
